Centium AI Founder Michael Rueckert delivered a guest lecture titled "Win the Future of AI Driven Decision Making" to the Master of Business Creation cohort at the University of Utah on October 25, 2025, on how AI models are reshaping brand discovery and what early-stage founders can do to earn a place in AI recommendations.

The University of Utah is consistently ranked among the top entrepreneurship programs in the country, primarily through its David Eccles School of Business and the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute. As of 2026, U.S. News and World Report ranks the University of Utah No. 8 for undergraduate entrepreneurship nationally and No. 5 among public schools, while Princeton Review ranks it No. 2 for undergraduate entrepreneurship in the West. The Master of Business Creation sits at the center of that ecosystem, operated in partnership with the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute and founded through the vision of Pierre Lassonde, an Eccles alumnus and accomplished mining entrepreneur.

The lecture was hosted by Jeff D. Davis, director of the MBC program and a co-founder of it since its inception. Davis is a professor of entrepreneurship and marketing at the Eccles School and has served as a mentor to Rueckert as Centium AI has grown.

Rueckert framed AI visibility as the new brand frontier for founders. Consumer behavior has shifted meaningfully: AI-driven decision already has mainstream adoption, as customers shift from search engines to AI models. He emphasized that brands that do not build a brand presence with these models now will compete at a disadvantage as the shift accelerates.

As a new startup, your brand doesn't exist to AI yet.

For founders specifically, Rueckert surfaced a structural challenge: AI models train on a dataset that favors established brands. Common Crawl, the primary open dataset most models train on, spans more than 300 billion pages across 18 years. A one-year-old startup is, in his framing, a rounding error in that dataset. The path through is earned coverage, press, awards, third-party reviews, and recent content that surfaces when AI models search the web during a response.

Centium AI continues to partner with the University of Utah and the David Eccles School of Business as a leader in Answer Engine Optimization and AI visibility, helping the next generation of founders understand how AI models are reshaping brand discovery.
