AI Visibility for Meta Muse: How to Show Up

AI visibility and AEO for Meta Muse, Meta's AI agent that shops, books, and buys for people. What we're seeing in how it finds and recommends brands, and how to show up in it.

Updated

Meta Muse is Meta's personal AI agent. It launched on September 8, 2026, reached No. 1 on the US App Store ten days later, and does more than answer questions. Connected to a person's apps and accounts, it shops, books, and buys for them. When an agent does the shopping, its shortlist is often the final list, and the person may never see the brands it passed over.

Centium has tracked Muse since September, alongside ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, and Google AI Mode. Muse is new, so what follows are trends from our tracking rather than rules. We will update this page as more brands run through it.

How Muse reads the web

Muse searches on nearly every prompt, usually more than once, turning each question into two or three searches of its own. That is the same query fan-out we measure across every model. Then it answers from the short excerpts its search returns. It opens a page or two in full and credits about one source per answer, and plenty of its answers credit none.

Search results it readsabout 25
Pages it opens in full1 to 2
Sources it creditsabout 1, often none
What Muse does per answer, in our tracking so far. Most of what it reads never shows up as a source.

For a brand, that puts the weight on search. With most models you can see the pages behind an answer. With Muse, most of what it read never appears as a source, so what matters first is whether you were in the results it searched.

What we're seeing

It knows brands the way the leading models do. How often Muse recommends a given brand tends to land in the middle of the pack, close to the other six models. It is not an outlier in who it names.

It favors specialist media over social. The sources Muse credits tend to be expert publications and review sites in the category. Reddit, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram rarely show up, Meta's own apps included, while Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Mode cite them heavily.

Press releases travel far in its results. We have seen one release, republished across wire services and local news sites, fill several results in a single Muse search.

How to show up in Muse

The fundamentals are the same as for any model. What changes with Muse is where the effort pays off.

  1. Put the answer in your title and opening lines. Muse often answers from the excerpt its search returns without opening the page. Your page title and first paragraph should say plainly what you are, who you serve, and why you are the pick.
  2. Let Meta-WebIndexer in. Meta says this crawler improves Meta AI search results. Check your robots.txt with our free AI crawler checker.
  3. Earn coverage in the outlets it reads. Expert reviews and specialist publications carry more weight with Muse than forum threads or social posts. See which sources AI cites in your category.
  4. Get your news distributed. A release that runs across many sites gives Muse more chances to find it in a single search.
  5. Make your products reachable by an agent. Muse completes purchases. If you sell on Shopify, Meta can reach your catalog through Shopify's agentic storefronts, so check that setting rather than assume it.

FAQ

questions, answered.

Meta's personal AI agent. It launched in the US on September 8, 2026, and reached No. 1 on the US App Store ten days later. Connected to a person's apps and accounts, it sends emails, books travel, and makes purchases on their behalf rather than only answering questions. It runs on iOS, Android, WhatsApp, and the web.

Mostly from live web search. In our tracking, Muse searches on nearly every prompt, usually more than once, and answers from the excerpts its search returns. It opens a page or two in full and credits about one source per answer, often none. What it learned in training fills in the rest.

Rarely, in what we have seen so far. Muse seldom credits Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, or YouTube, while Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Mode lean on them heavily. The sources it does credit tend to be specialist publications and expert review sites. This is an early read, and we are watching it as more brands run through Muse.

Not the way you rank on Google. Ask Muse the same question twice and the list can change, so no single answer is a ranking. What you can measure is how often it names you across many prompts, which brands it names instead, and where you tend to land in its answers.

Centium measures your AI visibility in Muse for you. Every plan runs 120 category prompts through all seven models, Muse included, then reports how often Muse names your brand, which competitors it names instead, where you land in the answer, and which sources it credits. Plans start at $99 a month with every model included.

Not if you want to show up in Muse. Meta says Meta-WebIndexer improves Meta AI search results, so blocking it is the one most likely to cost you there. Meta-ExternalAgent collects content for AI training, and Meta-ExternalFetcher fetches pages when a person asks for them. Check which ones your site allows with our free AI crawler checker.

Answer Engine Optimization, also called Generative Engine Optimization or GEO, is the work of getting Muse to name your brand when someone asks about your category rather than about you. It is the same work as for any other model, with higher stakes: Muse acts on the answer. It shops, books, and buys, so its shortlist is often the final list.

Meta's Muse Spark models. Centium measures the model through Meta's developer API, the same way it measures every other model, which keeps results consistent from one update to the next. The app, shaped by one person's connected accounts, could not be measured that way.
